Orthotist/Prosthetist

Sandie WaddellSandie graduated from Strathclyde University in Prosthetics and Orthotics in 1986, is registered with the UK Health Professions Council (HPC) and is a member of the British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists (BAPO).

Sandie has broad experience including paediatrics and adult orthotics taking a particular interest in lower limb biomechanics. She is a Senior Paediatric Specialist Orthotist, working closely with physiotherapists, podiatrists, paediatricians and orthopaedic consultants and has been instrumental in establishing multi disciplinary team work in her clinical practice.

With her emphasis in children’s orthotics, she became aware of the issues surrounding head shape deformity and began to observe Stephen Mottram’s work with cranial remoulding.

Sandie has been working in Technology in Motion since 2004 and has received formal training on cranial remoulding in the U.S.A. She has a full appreciation of the complexities of treating these very young babies and has successfully established herself as a key authority within the broader PlagioCare™ team environment.

As an active member of BAPO, initiating regional professional orthotic meetings in the North of England and in Scotland and speaking at the other allied health professional meetings in orthotics, she is highly regarded within her field of work. She is Chair of the |BAPO conference committee which organises the annual professional Conference for all BAPO members and other health professions and sits on the BAPO executive committee.

She is married with 3 children and, originally from Glasgow, she moved to Yorkshire in 1988 working in continuous orthotic practice since then.
